The sixty-acre campus is in the heart of rural Kentucky and has operated as a school since the early 1970’s. While the facilities have been updated over time the campus landscape has remained largely unchanged, now 50 years later many of the trees are aging and need to be replaced. To help guide this process, Francis Parker retained BDC to do an overall tree assessment and create a master plan for tree planting across the campus while addressing the long-term health of the existing trees. Distinctive tree planting palettes were selected for areas of the campus and based on terrain, overall aesthetic, and campus use. BDC made recommendations for Kentucky based eco-zones across the campus for deeper educational experiences and to enhance the overall campus aesthetics.
