Our team of nationally recognized design and planning consultants developed a plan to encourage redevelopment in the commercial center of Parkland, a historic neighborhood in the heart of West Louisville. The public engagement process included numerous stakeholder meetings, interviews with key property owners and two well-attended public meetings. Three key plan recommendations included; establishing Parkland’s commercial center as a destination for an indoor / outdoor public market to provide access to healthy fresh foods; encourage street front retail within the existing commercial buildings; and, the creation of a new market square with a significant community garden component, market sheds, and green open space.
