Working with Alliiance Architects and the Metropolitan Airport Authority of Rock Island County, Illinois, BDC designed landscape enhancements to the main parking facility entrance and a plaza adjacent to the terminal building. The plaza is accessible to travelers and serves as an employee courtyard. These improvements, which were implemented along the main airport drive, create an attractive and welcoming atmosphere. BDC selected plant species that were appropriate to the local USDA hardiness, readily available, and in accordance with FAA guidelines for wildlife non-attractants. Overall, the improvements create a welcoming atmosphere as one approaches the terminal building.
